Student Body Prez - THAT Much of a Boost?

DD was just elected; large school with extremely diverse student body. Her grades are good but not stellar; has honors but not AP classes. Her ECs are relatively unusual and pretty strong. I've told her that colleges have to be convinced that she can do the work -- regardless of how appealing the rest of her app looks. Agree?

Student body prez can be a factor, but it won’t take the place of GPA and scores. I do find it interesting that many of the schools like to report # of class presidents when reporting the admitted student stats.

Honestly, unless she has a lot of accomplishments while she holds the position of student body president, it’s just another thing to add to the laundry list.

Most colleges know that a lot of student presidents do absolutely nothing the entire year, and it’s mostly just for fun. But if it is as big a school as you say, then I guess the role would come with at least some significant responsibilities.

She has ambitious plans; didn’t run for the title only. Since she ran her ideas buy non-student stakeholders, I think she has a fighting chance for implementation.
