We are planning on purchasing a new laptop for my D who will be a freshman in the fall. Many colleges offer a discount computer purchase program for students that includes free/affordable maintenance on campus. I haven't been able to find any information of a program like on the UM website and I don't even know who/what department to call. Any ideas?

Thank you!!!

skewlcounselor: we talked about this a lot on the UM parent facebook page -

DS is in the college of engineering and they had requirements on their site; plus DH called (he’s the IT contact in our house!). He posted the info he got on the facebook page.

Plus remember that if you do not find the prices at the U appealing you can get student discounts with ANY maker, you just have to ask. Some even have separate websites just for students; discounts can be up to $200 in top of sale prices.

^To follow that up, got a really nice HP laptop for a lot cheaper than market price through their HP Academy student discount program.

Thank you, everyone, for the advice!
