Student featured in New York Times - Does it matter?

Thank you @ClaremontMom and @suzy100
Sounds like the essay is the place for it to go. I can likely put my business in the extracurricular section, (hopefully it will catch their attention) and I can reference the press coverage and expound on my business in my essay.

No, at that point you had already gotten an answer and one (two including this one I quoted) that I think are 100% wrong. If the business had died or you had stepped away from it, that would be one thing. But the fact that it is ongoing is what’s important, and it would be very easy (and I think impressive) to tie the articles about you into a statement/essay about that whole experience. Frankly, if this business is as much a part of who you are as I would think it is, then I am not sure why this is even a question. But I also agree that as a good business person, you should be pushing for any opportunity to have it publicized, so if you could somehow arrange for a follow-up article, that would be very sweet. Doesn’t have to be the NYT, although that would be best. @teenbizman1

I would focus on what got you mentioned in the NYT - your business which is still an ongoing endeavor. Its longevity and its media exposures are all worth mentioning within that context.

Sorry for offending you.

@fallenchemist Thanks for the comment. I totally agree, I (after posting this thread) have also concluded an essay about my business experience is the best place to include/mention the press I have received. I also agree with “if this business is as much a part of who you are as I would think it is, then I am not sure why this is even a question.” It would be nearly impossible for me to create an authentic, wholesome application without including my business, as it is a huge part of who I am. The point of the thread and my original question was to determine how to present the press/NYT article and if it is even relevant. I have received great perspective on where to include it - I was unsure before. There has been a follow up article recently in my local paper. And I was included in a list of ten people in an article on MSN. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to comment.

@SlackerMomMD I agree 100%. Thank you!

To be fair to @CaliCash and first commenter, I was a bit vague in my original question. They had no reason to believe the original NYT interview was just the start of things.

Thanks everyone!
