Student from the American University of Paris (AUP) here to answer questions

I read through a previous thread created by one of AUP students that had intended on answering questions (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/693547-student-american-university-paris-aup-here-answer-questions.html</a>), but since I have not gotten a response yet I’d thought I’d try here. :)

While I was reading through the other thread, I noticed that it was mentioned quite a lot that as long as the applicant has the money for it, AUP would be a great fit.

I had planned to apply to AUP through commonapp, where my essays and short answer are both written about how it is to be a little less fortunate. I was wondering if I should create a new version of my commonapp to change my essay+short answer even though commonapp suggests that it is “not necessary to “customize” your Common Application for individual colleges,” I don’t want my application to be overlooked because the university thinks that I am incapable of finding funding for my tuition.

I also remember reading that the school loved to hear about our traveling experiences and why we would like to attend AUP specifically, but again, I plan to apply through the commonapp, and nowhere does it allow us to write about either of the topics…I don’t mind writing more (ie. supplements) but nowhere does it ask for it. Has the application changed by requesting fewer items?

Sorry about the long question!
To sum it all up, should I change my essays from the less fortunate angle and approach them with my hopes of traveling?
