This a previous email I sent to students and I omitted some information not to give the organization away. So if some parts dont sound organize its because of that.

Student Government is a fascinating organization to be apart of and is a stepping stone for future leadership positions within other student organizations and SG. In SG Senate you will be able to make a difference by debating or even writing resolutions/bills that will affect your constituency. If SG Senate isn't your style, then maybe you will make a difference by being apart of SG Executive Branch (i.e. cabinet directors, assistant cabinet directors, lobby directors, and secretaries). Being apart of the Executive Branch allows you to plan programs that will be beneficial to the student body or serve on university committees that will debate policies affecting the student body. I encourage everyone to apply. SG is not entirely the Greek vs. non-Greek that is commonly portrayed. The reason for the discrepancy is that Greeks inform and push their members to go out and apply be able to become more active.

SG has a budget of $12,058,438.57. The largest of all the Florida universities and the only one with political parties (which I believe hasnt been in the best interest of SG). We currently have 90 something senators (cant remember).

Below are open senate seats that are currently available. For housing senators, you need to have lived in that area the previous semester or are currently living there. Sophomore senators need to have 30-59 credits hrs and freshman senators need 0-29 credit hrs. College senator need 60-up within their colleges to apply.

We encourage EVERYONE to apply. The R&A committee have been actively searching for qualified people to apply. The application for a senate replacement seat can be found here (http://www.sg.ufl.edu/Applications/Documents/25.pdf)) and are due to Senate Pro Tempore Josh Weiss (weissj@ufl.edu) on the 3rd Floor of the Reitz Union every Thursday,
