Student Life at Smith

Hi,

I was recently accepted to Smith, and I was wondering how the student life was? I know it's dorms are some of the best in the country, but otherwise not much. I was also accepted to BU. I wanted to know if things ever got too boring or uneventful at Smith due to its location? I am the kind of person who needs things to happen a lot. I was also wondering what kinds of things were available for students to do on the weekends which aren't just parties (or are there a lot of parties?) Also what is the percentage of students of color at the school?

Thanks!

@KartKoll OMG I’m having the same dilemma as you are! I’m having trouble deciding between UC Davis, BU and Smith. I’m an international student.

My daughter has so much going on at Smith that she’s never bored. There are parties on campus (more so in the Quad, less so on Green St) and there are also parties at nearby colleges, but many students go to few or no parties. There are a lot of clubs and other organizations, there are concerts and performances, and there’s a lot of just hanging out with friends. There are a number of club sports that you can try without previous experience. There are a lot of singing groups, including one for students who can’t sing (Crapapella). There’s really a wide variety of things to do; for example, there’s a student-run bike repair and rental shop, there’s an organization that puts on a 3-day sci-fi/fantasy/anime/gaming convention every year, and there’s an outing club that runs hiking and rock-climbing trips.
