Student loans or live at home?

For the past 2 years I have earned my basics at a community college. I plan on transferring to a university about an hour drive away from home. My question is this... Should I use loans to live on campus? Or the cheapest off campus apartments near by? I only have a retail job here, and have to pay my car and cell phone now. I figured I could get a part time job on campus to help pay for these. I really just want to get my degree!

My house is not not a study friendly zone. I figured since I saved money the first 2 years with a community college, this would be fine.

It sounds like taking out the loans in order to live on campus or in an apartment would be worth it, since you’ll be better able to focus on school.

It is better to go for student loan to live on campus or near by aparts… as your house is not a study friendly zone!!

I don’t know of any women’s schools that are universities. Are you sure you are in the correct forum?

An hour commute is long for a college student, but taking on debt is not something to do lightly. If I were you, I would look at living on or near campus but minimizing expenses by getting rid of the car and keeping a very cheap basic cell plan or pay as you go. Definitely check into the possibility of a work-study job on campus.

Who is paying your tuition now? Are you eligible for Pell or Stafford? Are your parents willing/able to help you with the cost of room and board?

I commuted an hour each way. I didn’t find that it adversely affected my education the way so many people told me it would. If your house isn’t a great study zone, try and find a place either on campus or off that you can study at. If you really think it wouldn’t work, then move out.
