I'm not going to lie, I did jack **** last quarter...i was dangerously lazy...I failed two midterms (to a class i skipped way too many times), wrote every single paper last minute, sparknoted a lot of my reading, partied regularly, barnighted regularly...just really poor decisions on my part. I ended up getting all B's. You just have to pay attention to what classes you take, how to take them and most importantly, the professors.

who are you esquared as in what is your name

Pay attention to what classes you take... how to take them... the professors...

Any insight as to what to look out for?

Esquared, what classes did you take last quarter?

human being and citizen, self culture and society, and ice age

My name is Eric

Look for what you like, be sure to manage your time wisely and make sure you like the professor, his syllabus and what he has to talk about.

E^2 is an unusually fine writer, even at the U of Chicago, and his ability to pull B's despite poor study habits assests to this.

From what my son says, part of the time management is not letting yourself get behind early on - everything come up quickly with the quarter system. If you are covering all new material in a course (e.g., take o-chem as a first year) you really don't want to let that or any of your other courses slip.

You will have the option of taking three courses instead of four some quarters. If you are a varsity athlete, that might be a good plan when your sport is competing, or perhaps your first quarter.

S finds study groups are helpful as well. He has organized several over the past year and a quarter. As ohio_mom states, getting behind for courses like o-chem can be the kiss of death. Lot's of folks who keep up, work their tails off for a B.

Have other people noticed that second quarter seems to be substantially more difficult than the first?

esquared i looked you up on facebook and i think i've seen you at bar night like 10 million times

hey quick question...like what about hte classes are so difficult? Are the students like all gunners with a high curve, or do the professors just demand a lot? Is there any place I can just see like some of hte material professors expect from the students? I really reallly wanna go to UofC, the core sounds amazing, but at the same time I dont want to sabotage my GPA and screw my med school chances

haha, you probably have, who are you?

so this is a bad place 2 be pre-med?

It's a bad place to slack off and be pre-med. So is every school, as pre-med is one of the few places you can never slack off if you want to get into a good (or ANY) med school.

Yeah, I've probably partied with you guys, too.

After the first few drink everyone starts looking the same..

but bottom line is, if i work hard (and learn a lot obviously, since that's my primary motive of coming ot U of C), i can also get a high gpa?

no...........

lol, simply said.

my name = jack reeves

friend me so i know who you all are at bar night, or at least find me and introduce yourself

Hey jack I know you too, but I know you from track!
