Student Orientation+Registration+Moving In

I was planning on going to the session 5 of the student orientation because I live all the way on the other side in Washington state. When I was going through some of the threads on CC, it appears that those who come to the student orientation at a later date are unable to get the choices that they want when they register for fall courses. Is this true? Also, if you were to come on the session 5 dates, August 23-24, do you move into the dorms right away? August 24 seems to be the date that everyone is moving in.

ALSO, where does it indicate your major? I never really found out since I applied using Common App... :(

Answer I found on the board:

You are welcome to attend any Student Orientation (SO) session that you would like; we simply reserve the last session for students traveling long distances to minimize their travel costs. Each SO session has a set number or seats reserved for each class - this way, there is no advantage/disadvantage to any SO session. Generally, the first week of classes sees a large number of drops and additions, so even if a course is filled during registration it is typically very easy to get into that class by the first week.

As for my other two questions, I would extremely appreciate it if someone could answer them. :)

You move into the dorms right away if you are SO5.

Your major right now doesn’t matter because you can change it at the desk you sign in at anyway, they will have your name and information there

Or you could have just seen the post I made 25 hours earlier on this on this relatively inactive forum.
