Well here is an update to my situation:

I found an opening for Chemistry during an earlier time and it turns out it is with a professor who is VERY good. Should be an easy A. I called the school and persuaded the person to switch the course for me. I got a call back in like 5 minutes and it is ALL set!

I guess I’ll just have to grind it out with Biology and Calculus but overall I am happy I am getting at least one highly recommended professor this upcoming semester.

I look at rate my professor all the time… usually after I’ve picked my classes, though. Or, as someone else said, if there’s a class with multiple sections and different professors. Of course I’m skeptical of anything that says, “this class is harddddd, dont take it!!!” But if there are a lot of comments, it’s pretty easy to suss out the reality. And I post a review of all my professors, both negative and positive, so I know it’s not just limited to people who are complaining or failed.

I use it all the time and I usually give our reviews too.

For classes that I don’t really care about or need for my career path, I usually go for the prof who gives out an easy A. Who wants to stress about a prereq or something when you have other tough classes to handle?

This site saves my life every semester. I usually get the pick of what teacher I want at my school (honors students choose first, it’s a very nice perk to have) and so far I have not had a single professor that I did not like. Other professors that have taught the same class I have found out were awful for whatever friends of mine ended up having them. Even if the tool isn’t always accurate, it at least flags the really bad ones (i.e. ratings of 2.0 and below).
