I'm currently working on my Why Oberlin Essay in form of a imaginary daily routine at the campus. I want to include my potential extracuricular activity in order to show how I will utilize what I have learned in class in the real world. Since I will be majoring in Phil & Religion, which could potentially become a real in-bubble academics, I want to show that theoretical knowledge is indeed useful in confronting practical issues. So my choice was to put me working in the student organization <student for="" a="" free="" palestine=""> which I play a role in facing the religious demension of modern Palestinian issue.
The organization website, however, had listed its newest announcement in 2004. So I guess all the core members had graduated and it just dissolved. I would appreciate any information on this. When this organization was around(if it isn't now), how active was it?And even if it's now a dead group, maybe I can decribe myself digging up the archive, contacting the alumni, and getting it running again, because I think that would be a cool experience too.</student>

I think there are still people involved in it. I know some people who were part of it in the past (and I'm only a junior) and I know they also brought in/at least co-sponsored a speaker or two last year. I don't know if they're around this year or not, but I would very rarely rely on any student org website (most are outdated).

Thanks, withinamile. If you're currently on campus, can you give me further information? Like, do they have their own office? How big is the organization? Any detail would be helpful to my essay.

I haven't been involved with them and I have no idea how many people are involved (although given the nature of student groups, I would be surprised if there were more than 10 people consistently involved). They do have an office in the Student Union, which is something that student groups can request although offices are not guaranteed and not all groups have one, and sometimes the office is shared with one or two other student groups. I don't have any other information about the group. But best of luck!

There have been posters up for a new meeting ("What's happening in your name?") this week. So, they're restarting, I'd bet.

Yeah, my roommate's involved with them. They seem to be planning to be pretty active this year - they have an information thing and possibly a general interest meeting soon.
