i found this in Princeton review but it does not make clear whether its about undergraduates or the whole student body. what do you think? if its true weekends could be boring...

That could be true for undergraduates, but this is also because USC operates so much off-campus housing that is only a few blocks from the campus itself.

I also heard that 75% of students stay on campus during the weekends. seems unlikely. myth or reality?

Well there are over 30,000 people that attend the school including the graduate school...so who knows

myth...lots of kids leave for the weekend. party night is thursday, so i have been told, then local kids head out. iduring football season,,influx is into sc for the day. we love sc,,,but being pc aside, the neighborhood surrounding isn't the greatest.

Only freshman and sophomores live on campus... most upperclassman are just a few blocks off campus in the surrounding areas (mostly north university park - across Jefferson St.). I'm sure PR isn't including these students...

As a recent alum, i would say ~90% of undergrads live on (or right around) campus.

And not that many people leave for the weekend anymore... Less than one third of new freshman are from the LA/OC area anyway (http://www.usc.edu/private/factbook/2008/new_byhome_08.pdf), meaning that over 2/3's don't even have the option to go home.

USC's campus is quite small as far as campus' go. Almost all Freshmen live on the campus proper, which has space for about 2700 people. Sophomores are guaranteed university housing, but they end up in the university owned apartments off campus. These are all within walking distance maybe 15-20 minutes at most.

Juniors and Seniors can get university housing if they want it but many choose to live in the large number of non-university owned buildings in the area or in their Fraternity/Sorority houses. When looking for non-university housing, be sure to shop around and don't let landlords bully you.
