I've always wanted to study abroad, but starting this fall I'll be living with my fiance. We're financially dependent on each other (at the moment we need both my financial aid money and his money from working to pay for rent, groceries, etc.), and so if I were to leave for a semester, he would most likely be unable to afford a place on his own. If I were to get accepted into a study abroad program, would it be possible to bring him as well? I know he probably wouldn't be able to work abroad, but the chances of my financial aid being enough for housing for us both (especially if I'm able to take out additional loans) seem greater than the chances of him maintaining an apartment while I'm away.

Would we need to be married for him to come as well, or would he be able to even if we weren't married? Or, would he still be unable to whether or not we were married? Does anyone know of any programs or scholarships for married students?

Any info that anyone has would help! I've only just started looking into it, but I'm going to be a sophomore this fall and if I want to study abroad for junior year, I'll probably need to start applications this year.

Oh, and if this is relevant, I'll be going to UNC Chapel Hill. I haven't found any information on the website about study abroad for married students, but I haven't yet called the school directly and spoken to anyone about it.
