Hello all,

I want to study abroad next semester! I'm an undergraduate, and I just decided want to take a semester off to go abroad and improve my Spanish. I know this is very short-term, but I really want to do this. It's too late to do it next semester through my college. Does anyone know what I can do? I have no major yet. I'm willing to just do work for people and not even study, if anyone knows any legitimate programs for that.

Basically, I'm looking for someone to give me an idea of what I can do. I don't need to be studying, though it would be nice; I could do temporary work or something of that sort. If anyone knows of any legitimate programs, I would like to know ASAP! Thank you.

Costa Rica has many very affordable programs where you can work on your Spanish and do fun activities and live with a Costa Rican family. This would not be affiliated with a university. Just search for things like study Spanish or volunteer in Costa Rica. You will want to make sure that missing a semester of college does not interfere with your enrollment or any financial or merit aid when you return.

You can study at either a Spanish school abroad or at a Spanish university that offers month-long courses.
Spanish schools take in new students either every two weeks or every month. Some Spanish universities, like the University of Alicante and the University of Salamanca also have programs that start every month and funny enough they are pretty cheap, even if you do it last minute.
Take some classes! You’ll learn a lot and still have plenty of time to relax, experience, whatever…
Here’s links to the universities I mentioned

Salamanca

For Salamanca, I couldn’t find the link for a one month course, but you can probably click around and find it.
I don’t know if you were even interested in Spain, but since I studied abroad there I know that the programs won’t break the bank. They’re also easy to enrol in and have courses that start each month.
Hope that helps!
