Has anyone any information on hand whether "our" list of MT schools offer study abroad programs (preferable geared towards theatre). I know of hand that NYU does.

Florida State University offers a semester-long London Theatre Experience. Students live and study in London for 3 1/2 months during the fall semester of the junior year. My D participated in the program this past fall and loved it. She studied with London theatre professionals, took voice lessons at the Royal College of Music, and saw beaucoup theatre. I believe she said that she saw between 40 and 50 productions while she was in London. Students also take field trips. D visited Stonehenge, the Globe Theatre, the British Museum, which is within walking distance of the FSU Study Centre, and many other sites in Great Britain. She also visited Dublin, Edinburgh, Paris, Rome, and Florence. The semester in London was a once in a lifetime experience.

Well, one school that i'm looking at Oakland University in Michigan has a study abroad program in Greece for theatre and musical theatre majors.

Ithaca also has a really popular study abroad program in London.

I'm applying to the Duke in London drama program...it sounds pretty cool

I know for sure that such programs are big at Elon and Syracuse and also offered at UM.

Also Emerson has their own castle somewhere in Europe (maybe the Netherlands?) where you can study for a semester.

Typically junior year, I believe, historically more acting-oriented, but recently beefed up for MT as well. Current students who post here I'm sure can fill in details.

My son, a jr mt at um is currently studying at The Royal Academy of Dramadic Arts in London for the semester. So far he has loved the experience.

Current UM MT students students have also studied at Moscow Art Theatre and at the National Institute for Dramatic Arts (NIDA) in Australia. Some have also done non-theatre study abroad programs and have still been able to graduate in 4 years: these include an academically-guided cruise around the world with the Semester at Sea program (sponsored by the University of Virginia) and family placements in Spain and Argentina.
