Study abroad vs. Bioscience Summer Research Program

The study abroad is in Korea and it is through NSLI-Y, so it's fully paid. We learn about the language through immersion. The Bioscience is at the university of utah and accepts 17-20 people a year.

Nsliy:
Pros:
Fully paid (about $10,000)
Different experience
Could learn more about yourself
Can get access to more scholarships regarding this aspect
is a national program funded by US state department
a $250 stipend
Cons: Have to miss the bioscience
In a totally new place (which I'm not too concerned about)

Bioscience:
Pros:
Science related, which may be better for college applications
Could get professor recommendations
a $500 stipend
More related to one of my possible career choices (though not really sure)
Cons:
Still in the same state
I heard from someone they did a lot of grunt work

Anyways, which one of these programs seem better experience wise and also for college? Also, which one is more prestigious?

What did you decide?
