Anyone have opinions on the best places to go from experience and the most engaging. I was thinking of the Dublin/Trinity College Summer Sess with some friends from ND but i kinda want to go outside the english language. Anyone gone on or have experience in other abroad programs through UM.

I went to Spain, and it was fantastic. It really depends on a lot of factors. For instance:

1) Do you prefer a busy, urban metropolis, or a small, rural area?
2) Do you speak any foreign language that you want to use/improve?
3) Would you prefer a “college town” with bars and clubs, or a more historic place with culture and tradition? (Of course, some places have both.)

I know/have heard of people going to all of the following places, and have only heard good things:

Sydney, Australia
Barcelona, Spain
Paris, France
Dublin, Ireland
London, UK*
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Madrid, Spain*
Salamanca, Spain*
Beijing, China
Shanghai, China
Cairo, Egypt
Santiago, Chile
Guadalajara, Mexico
Mexico City, Mexico*
Stockholm, Sweden
Reykjavik, Iceland
Amsterdam, Netherlands*
Venice, Italy*
Milan, Italy*
Florence, Italy*
Amsterdam, Netherlands*
Brussels, Belgium*
Tokyo, Japan
Seoul, South Korea
Moscow, Russia*
Cape Town, South Africa

The * are the ones that I have been to, and all are beautiful cities. I studied in Madrid and Salamanca.

Best of luck.

Thanks. I have been all over Europe while in HS - and i do speak French, some italian and some German. So i guess i have a lot to consider. Thanks again for the input.

Probably not as great as being able to run around Europe, but since you speak French, I will just throw Montreal out there. I’ve heard it is just incredible for college students.

What about Abu Dhabi, even to note that NYU ( also MSU) have a campus there ([NYU Abu Dhabi Admissions](http://nyuad.nyu.edu/admissions/index.html)). Thought it would be interesting for anyone to visit there and come in contact with NYU and MSU college students.

Wow UMgoblue how long was your study abroad for all of these cities you’ve visited?

Oh no, they weren’t all for study abroad–that would be quite incredible. I was lucky enough to have traveled with my family; it’s pretty much what we love doing most. So most of the cities that I’ve been to were anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks.

As far as study abroad, I was in Madrid for a week and Salamanca for 5. I know Michigan offers semester long programs to a lot of these places, but you do not have to travel through U of M if you don’t want to.

Good call on Montreal as well as Abu Dhabi. If you go to UAE, you can visit Dubai (though your money will probably be gone after like one drink lol).

I actually meant Dubai for Michigan State University, though both cities are in UAE.

Yeah I know, I heard it’s expensive.
