I just wanted to let everyone know especially the freshmen and sophomores, that if you want to go to college I would highly recommend studying for the act now. I currently have a 26 and am planning on taking the upcoming October one, but I know if I would have started studying as a freshmen I would have at least a 30. That’s all thanks
Not necessarily true. If you start studying too early you’ll risk burnout and its not as effective bc you havent learned everything on the test yet.
Also, you have no way of knowing how much you could have improved if you studied more.
I literally started 2AM the night before LOL (still had a decent/good score though). I’d recommend starting a little earlier, but starting in freshman year (and perhaps even sophomore) seems a bit extreme, in my opinion…
The best preparation for both the SAT and ACT tests is learning content and skills throughout high school. Neither test has a specific content or recurring set of questions that you could study specifically like you do on schools tests. Questions are designed to measure your knowledge and skills developed in high school.
Good preparation means you can read quickly with good comprehension in all kinds of texts. If you don’t know the meaning of a word, look it up. Tests, reading, writing have grammar and vocabulary, language structures. Reading regularly, often, for pleasure and learning. Life, work and school are so much easier if you read proficiently.
Later on, spruce up difficult information like math. I like Danica mc Keller’s books.
Finally, learn to control your behavior such as time management so you keep a steady pace, control your emotions such as anxiety and fear what will happen if thinking is a sure way to lose points, and so on.
You can not let taking college prep classes substitute for high school and reading. Instead, use them to help you learn how to approach a timed test.
