STUDY MEDICINE IN THE PHILIPPINES

Hey guys,

I was surfing around and found all this information on studying Medicine MBBS in the Philippines.

From what I read Philippines is well recognised and their curriculum follows the latest US based systems. Apart from that it’s worldwide recognised for a high overall literacy rate with a majority of the population which is English speaking.

It has some of the most affordable programs available in the world and has many accredited state and private universities which are renowned worldwide. As all courses are taught in English, you will have the opportunity to earn US academic credit while continuing your studies in any of hundreds of courses from dozens of subject areas.

On top of that if you want to start a medical career in the US, medical licensing and USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) test preparation is covered in most of the courses. So its easy to get a kickstart on your career too!

There is one firm some of my friends have gone under, called HCMI and they have affiliations with many universities. Some are as follows: University of Northern Philippines, Cagayan State University,Fatima University.

All HCMI affiliated Philippine Medical Programs are accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and all HCMI affiliated medical universities are fully recognized and listed by both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), as approved medical schools, thus, permitting all Medical University students/graduates to sit for the USMLE.

So what happens after you have completed your degree?

Getting a degree is not enough…u still need to be licensed to pratice medicine in any country.

For example in US, each state has its own requirements and the system is pretty complex and varies from state to state, but my friends who went through HCMI, they were given advise and assistance to sit through the licensing phase.
