Study of history as an EC

I'm passionate about world history, though it isn't related to my intended major. I have listed this activity on Common App(and among my first EC's) as I dedicate much time to it. I have taken the WH SAT test and scored in the 90th percentile so my passion is real. However, since I'm clumsy, I failed to mention my score in the Details&achievements section of my activity(I did send the score, though). I have no other proof that my interest in history is genuine. Also, my essays touch history quite marginally, if at all.

My question is: will this in any way harm my chances for the very selective colleges I'm applying? Will they understand from my SAT score in WH(even though not listed in the Details section) that I really like history and that I can contribute therefore to the cultural life of the campus?

You could talk about it in your “Why College X” essay if they have that in the supplement. I wouldn’t make it the main focus, but mention that you spend a lot of time on this and are excited about their campus because of X (courses offered, research in the area, etc.). If you don’t have anything like the History Bowl (although look into it, I think it is a Jan-Feb type activity, you could maybe do it this year and send results to your colleges in an email if it goes well) or Quiz Bowl, that is about all I can think of.

Well, I have to mention that I’m an int’l, and no, we don’t have History Bowl or such contests, at least none that I know of…Good idea though, I will do some research regarding this matter.

I did touch history in two of my supplements(but to a small degree), but for my other schools I reached the word limit without even mentioning any interest in it. Also, I didn’t write anything even remotely related to history in my Common App essay. Can it look bad in any way?

Also, be more specific than just ‘world history’. That’s like saying you like reading ‘literature’. The more pinned down you can be (it can be more than one period or region) the more genuine it will come across e.g. mid 17th Century London (Pepys, the Great Fire, Plague) or Ancient Egypt during the 4th dynasty etc.

Does the college have any clubs that meet your interest in history? Would you like to start one? Any resources in the local community that would help you develop your knowledge (e.g. major museum)?

Thanks. Of course, I saw that danger and was more specific than that, still not as specific as you suggest(I indicated many hours of history study so I couldn’t have been that exact).

My college doesn’t have any history club, and the clubs(well, let’s say) in my country work differently from the ones you know about. Starting one is very difficult(read: next to impossible). If interested in more details, please PM me, I won’t disclose too much here.

Any other opinions?
