Hi!
I am currently a freshman at UCSD. At this point, I am pretty set on trying to transfer into UC Berkeley's Media Studies major or possibly UCLA. Its only the first quarter, but I believe I will have a 4.0 at least for this quarter and I'm planning to maintain something close. By Fall of 2012 I will have all my GE's and pre-requisites done at least for UCB.
Would it be unwise to spend winter and spring quarter of my sophomore year studying abroad? Would it jeopardize my admission in any way? Has anyone done this or heard of anyone studying abroad before transferring?
Thank you!

OK you are lucky, although I don’t know much about study abroad before transfer, I heard that it is unsual and not recommended, but the choice is still open. In my case it was studying abroad the summer before transferring to a UC. But seeing as you’re already at a UC it’s a bit different. I would call the study abroad centers in the places that you’re transferring to and maybe UCSD as well. In my personal opinion, i’d just do the program after you’ve transferred.

EAP programs though are UC-wide. but with all the mumbo jumbo of transferring you should probably wait until you’re at the school you want to be at.

Thanks for the input!
But I mean, as long as I check the courses I will take with a UC advisor and make sure the transcript will be back in time, what could go wrong? haha, I feel pretty determined to do this!

Won’t it just be seen as any other transfer credit?
