Hello everyone,
So I’m a second year student at the University of Cincinnati studying Information Technology. I’ve been in Cincy for most of my life and I’m not gonna lie… I’m dying to get out for awhile. I’d be going for a semester…
Studying abroad has been something I wanted to do for a very long time now and I’m starting to get serious about taking the steps in order to make this happen.
I’m sort of stuck between looking to study in Australia vs England (or if you have any other great suggestions… I wouldn’t be opposed to Western Europe either). I love the history and culture aspect of England but i love the nature and overall idea of being in Australia…
Anything that you have to say about experiences or in general to help would be greatly appreciated.
If you study in England you have the entirety of Europe at your doorstep; you’d be able to hop on a train to Paris in the morning and be back home before dark. Aus is beautiful, with great weather pretty much year round and stellar beaches, but the cultural exploration opportunities aren’t as tangible. It’s a huge country and is much more expensive to travel elsewhere, Totally your choice, though - both are very special.
What is the likelihood of being able to go back? Choosing the one that you are less likely to have an opportunity to spend time in down the road is a perfectly reasonable metric.
Hi, I’m from Australia and I’d suggest that you go to Europe for your study abroad, as in my opinion you’d get more out of a trip to Europe than Australia. In Australia, our best university is the University of Melbourne, which offers probably the best experience academically and culturally (Melbourne is probably the cultural hub of Australia). However, as previous posters have stated, the cultural differences probably wouldn’t be that great and you’d be experiencing a similar kind of lifestyle. To be honest, I personally don’t think Melbourne is all that great and everything is expensive in Australia as well. Your best bet for a more rewarding experience would lie in an European university.
