Studying Abroad in Russia

<p>Not this summer (2013) but next summer I am planning on doing a month abroad studying (as a Russian Major) in the outskirts of Moscow, with several planned trips into the city as a replacement for two courses at my university (I can do a summer abroad, or a full year of classes at home for the credits) and of course I'm planning well ahead to ensure I have the required prerequisites.
But I was wondering if anyone has spent time studying in/around Moscow has any advice for going at any time of the year? Or even if anyone has vacationed there, that advice would be wonderful as well!</p>

<p>Where exactly are you planning on studying? I absolutely love Moscow, studied there for a semester. I highly recommend staying in Moscow rather than outside it (again, where were you planning on going?).</p>

<p>St. Petersburg is amazing too. It’s more Western than Moscow. Both have their charms.</p>
