Studying in Spain? HELP!

i have so many questions so please bare with me:
i was thinking about applying to some universities in Spain, but not as an exchange student through an American university. does anyone know the process for international students, such as the different exams required (i know about the Selectividad examination, but how does it work?).
if all else fails and i can't go as a normal student without having to deal with transferring credits to America, does anyone know about the process, has anyone done an exchange program through an American university and would like to share the process/experience/which American unis have the best relationship with Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

anyone have good links/resources where i can do the research myself.

Start at the main website for the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperacion de Espana, and look for the consulate nearest to you. They should be able to help you find all of the information that you need on studying in Spain as a regular student.

[url=<a href="http://www.maec.es/es/Embajadas%20y%20Consulados/Paginas/embajadasyconsulados.aspx%5DMinisterio">http://www.maec.es/es/Embajadas%20y%20Consulados/Paginas/embajadasyconsulados.aspx]Ministerio</a> de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperaci

all the ministries are located in Spain though, plus i can't find any information about foreign visas for a students.
thank you for the link though.

There is a consulate in Los Angeles. Unfortunately the link I posted will only get you to the phone number and street address:
