I would suggest that you take A Levels, but if you don’t, I don’t see how it would put you at much of a disadvantage. I did an equivalent to A Levels and my classes so far are ridiculously easy. From what my pre-major advisor said, I’d pretty much be doing things that I did in my last two years of secondary school for my freshman year and even part of sophmore year and I don’t have a choice but to take the classes because we can’t get credits for engineering.

The only thing is that if you do A levels and have to do those classes anyway when you start university, at least you know you’ll have a really, really high GPA freshman year since you know all the work already :D

That is unfortunate for you but rather untypical. Most colleges have a system for placing students into higher-level classes, even if they didn’t get credit for the courses they are trying to get out of. It might require a placement exam or permission of the instructor, but it is almost always possible.

hi everybody…
i’m a non-singaporean student has just placed to sec 3 to sec school in singapore which is not a top gov. sec school at all…
there’s no way i can transfer to top sec school (or apply as 2012 , i will be at sec 4)…
should i go to US PREP COLLEGE or Australia to later apply to US Uni?
there’s no way i will have CCA ACHIEVEMENT(S) I think…
my aim: cornell uni, Ucal berkeley, umichigan, NYU…
thx

note: i do have 2 sisters who are Australia PR Living in melbourne…
both have been working in melbourne… should i go to melb?

I did my o-levels from Pakistan with 5A*s, 4As and a B.

Now my family has moved to America and I obviously cant find anywhere to do my a-levels here, so im going to community college. I also couldnt go back to high school because I was a business/economics in my school student so I didnt have any sciences to fulfill American highschool requirements. Even for sophomore year… I would have to go all the way back to freshmen or sophomore year.

I am looking to transfer to a 4 year university now and most of them are asking for an a-levels. What am I supposed to do?

I mean I am an honors student and have perfect 4.0 in the college I am attending right now but it is the a-levels, that I dont have, that is stopping me.

Do you think I should get an alevels? Is there any other option? Can I do a-levels anywhere in United States? Is a high school GED good enough to get into a good university?
PS: I cant go back to country to get an a-levels because then my visa would become void.

well, ben_chia you are looking for shortcuts to hardwork. If you think A-Levels would be a burden, forget college. Which is pain in the ass. Maybe you can get into a mediocre university but then whats the point?
I did O’Levels, A’Levels and I am currently a sophomore at a uni.
