alright so i just got back my GCE-O level results and i'm applying to colleges now. kinda late, i know, but i didn't really have a choice. anw, my results are as follows:

e maths: B3
english: A2 (taken in 2008)
principles of accounts: A2
chemistry: B4
physics: B3
geography: E8

i'm interested in engineering colleges. so far i've only got purdue on my list since its an engineering college and its got a late deadline. any idea where else i can apply with these grades ?? will be taking my SAT reasoning on the 23rd of jan, expect to get 2xxx. any recommendations ?? i don't need any financial assistance. btw, i studied in a private school, so no CCA achievements either. everything was more or less self-study. and how will they look at using 2 certs to apply ?? since my english score is on a seperate cert since i took it in 2008. do i have to explain the e8 for geography ??

i could, but i don’t wanna really waste time. i need to graduate before my dad retires so i can get a job with his company in the US. and that’s in about ~5 years, give or take.

Going to a community college doesn’t mean wasting time. You would get credit for work done at the community college, so you could graduate within 4 years.

Really now, after bumping it like 9 times… Happymomof1 has helped you, but there just isn’t anyone with expertise in this area. Think about it, only Singapore does the Singaporean O levels.

the thing is, i don’t know where else to ask. it would be different if i had straigh As, but i’ve got a mix of As and Bs and one damn E. i’m hoping somebody who got into purdue (or knows somebody who got into purdue) can tell me what grades he/she got in with. the website only states a pass in 5 O level subjects, which i doubt is the case. hell, i emailed stanford for fun and even they “encouraged me to apply with them (stanford)”. whether or not i get accepted there is an entirely different case altogether =/

There won’t be any O level -> Purdue Singaporeans randomly hanging around here. You should contact USEIC in Singapore or the Singapore student association at Purdue, which could put you in contact with a senior maybe.

That has got to be a record number of bumps on CC lol.

This probably won’t be much help, but I have a friend currently at Purdue who got in with an IB score in the mid 30’s (rejected by all his match/reach schools). You should really do what fiona_ has said, because I don’t think there are many here who are familiar enough with Purdue admissions to give you accurate advice based on your situation.

Oh, kthanksbye, if you think that’s many bumps… You evidently have not stepped foot into the ‘What Are My Chances’ forum. A scary pit of despair, anxiety, and horror.

If it’s you dad’s company, doesn’t he gets to choose when to retire? If it’s not his company, what’s to say you’ll definitely be employed by them?

Listen to fiona, I think too that going to a US community college first is an excellent choice based on your grades. And it’s not a waste of time. Do well for 2 years in a CC and try for a transfer, and you can start as a junior in a college/university.

You’re not going to get what you want to hear even if you push for it.
