hmm...i just got my SATs and i got a 580 in French...not what i was looking for! :(

i havent done french in two years but i cant really take any other SAT II cuz my IB course is really incompatible with the SAT subjects. Does someone recommend me to retake French in January? I have finished school so I will attempt to memorise the French dictionary to prepare:D Or is it better to self-study a totally new subject...like US History? (something I have no idea about but im sure i will be able to find a book or something on it). What do you guys think?

I would go with French. I think it's risky to take a test for a subject with which you're totally unfamiliar. If you know French, upping your score will be easier than shooting for a high score for US History if you know nothing about it.

Then again, I know nothing about the SAT subject tests so maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

I would definitely not take US History SATII. Granted, I'm not good at history, but I took AP US History, got a 5 on the exam, and still scored comparatively low on the US History SATII. Take a subject that you actually know something about, its way easier to re-cram information than give urself a crash course in a completely new subject.

French hands down
I heard US hisotry has a lot of memorising action going on there, much more than memorising that french dictionary.
If you were to take it in May or something, I might've said it doesnt really matter.. but January.. it's too close mate

take SAT2 Literature!! i decided to take it last minute and got like a 710 on it or something similar. it's good if you have a strong English and reading background.
