i am applying to harvard, princeton, and cornell, and all 3 of these require/strongly recommend subject test scores. i have the following scores:
literature: 750
math 2: 620
math 1: 680
us history: just took yesterday
are these scores good enough for these schools or should i just not apply? also, when a school recommends subject tests (like harvard and princeton) is it necessary to send those in?
While your math is a little low for these schools, your Lit is strong. Apply if that’s what you want to do! Don’t let anyone stop you. And, for Harvard and Princeton, it’s probably a good idea to go ahead and send them (even though I’m not).
Your 750 Literature is 90th percentile, which is very good.
How are your AP scores? SAT/ACT? Perhaps these scores can provide the details / validation the schools will need without having to submit below 90th percentile SAT 2 scores.
As always, have plenty of match and safeties, even for students with the highest qualifications, Cornell, Harvard and Princeton are lottery wins.

I recommend you NOT to send your Math 1 and Math 2 SAT scores because SAT Subject Tests are taken and sent to colleges to tell the college admission officers that you are very strong in the subject. However, getting 620 and 680 on Math 2 and 1 will rather make you look worse, especially when you are applying to prestigious Ivy League schools.
If you think that you excelled on the subject test that you took yesterday, then I advise you to send only Literature and US History ones. Otherwise, it’d be better to send Literature and Math 1 or just Literature one only.
“Selective institutions expect to see scores in the 700s, usually in the upper half of the 700s…If you’re planning to major in math or science or are applying to schools like MIT, then an 800 on your math and science Subject Tests would be really helpful, even expected, for your application.”

However, do not be too discouraged as SAT Subject Tests are factored into evaluation only 2% to 5%.
