I have great grades, I am taking challenging classes in high school, I am very involved with my extracurriculars, and I got a 2210 on the SAT. Problem is, I haven't been doing so well on my Subject Tests. Does anyone know how much weight the subject tests actually carry with admission decisions? Is it REALLY bad if I don't have stellar scores (mid 600s - low 700s) and am considering applying to schools such as stanford and brown?

Colleges do look at them during admissions...so, maybe retake???

Hey, I don't claim to be an expert, but I'm pretty sure the standard for competitive colleges like Stanford and Brown is at least 700. I'm sure you could get mid 700's if you studied though. Your SAT score shows that you can do better.

Anything above a 700 is usually considered good. except on MathII and physics and those types of tests. But with scores in the 600s....i think it would be best to retake them. especially if you are applying to top tier schools. especially ivies and stanford caliber schools

whats considered good for math II and physics?

meadow36: It's best to get 800 for Physics, 780+ is probably fine. For math, I would say 740+.
