Subject Tests...

I'm currently deciding which subject tests to take. I'm absolutely taking World History, because I'm currently in AP World. However, I'm having trouble choosing my second one. My only two options are really US History and Literature.

Here's the problem: I took AP US last year and got a 4 on the AP Exam. I remember the key events and concepts, but I will absolutely have to go back and spend a lot of time studying. Also, wouldn't it be bad to take 2 history subject tests?

The problem with Literature is that I am not in an AP English (my school doesn't offer it till next year) and I heard there are a lot of terms and poetry on the exam, which I have little experience with.

So I'm not sure if I should study for US or Lit....any suggestions?

You should probably take three.
Can you do a math? Level 2 is preferred.
Also, they recommend a foreign language for CAS.
I wouldn’t take the Literature test because it’s really challenging and difficult to prepare for.
I would also advise against only taking the two histories.

I’m pretty confident I would do terrible on the Math one

I heard that languages are at AP level? Our school doesn’t offer AP languages until Senior year

The language SATs are pretty challenging, but if your very good at a language and/or prepare for the test, you’ll most likely score well.

I would consider myself very good at English and analyzing literature, but I did not do so hot on the Lit Sat II. If you are not comfortable with more classic literature and poetry, then I would advise against it. The curve is pretty harsh, too.

Have you thought about taking a science SAT II?

I took the Spanish SAT after junior year (I took AP Spanish Senior Year). It ended up being very helpful because I was able to place out of the language requirement at Penn without taking the AP exam (unfortunately I had to take this anyway).
If you are taking Chemistry maybe take that one. I took it after honor chemistry when I was a sophomore (I didn’t take AP until I was a senior) and did very well. Just take a look at a practice test.
