I remember seeing somewhere that someone mentioned that Georgetown required you to submit a photo of yourself. True or false? Because I don't see it anywhere on the application...

Also when it says I have to mail in additional information, is that parallel to the additional information on the common app? because all i would be sending is one page of extra curriculars.

It does ask you to submit a photo of yourself, not quite sure why though. Also, Georgetown doesn’t use the common app, so the additional information would be extra info that wouldn’t fit on your Georgetown application.

The online application didn’t have any space to upload a picture, as far as I know - I think that was just for the paper application, and it’s definitely optional.

oh and also, I know that a lot of people submit photos of themselves on campus, but i have a photo i want to submit of myself and the actual georgetown live mascot, the bulldog, but im holding a plastic cup of water… is the cup a red flag though?

I got it from them, I went to an info. session and filled out a form that said I wanted a paper application. You can just print out the .pdf’s from the site if you are so inclined. . .

They may mail you a paper application, or if you go searching on their website you can find one. I forgot that I never actually sent in a picture of myself. I was expecting to but there was no place on the online app.

i did a summer program at georgetown, and when i applied there they required a photo as well. i think the photo is only for the georgetown ID if accepted, that was how it was for that summer session, but who knows.

i wouldn’t have the red cup in the picture. anyway, the only real purpose for the picture is so that the admissions committee can associate an actual face with the applicant’s stats and essay. good luck

Second, I think I remember reading somewhere that the photo is used to link a face to the app/essays as well as putting it in your file if admitted so that they have photos for your ID (or for some type of official doc like that).

I was accepted under EA and did not send any photo.

I was admitted EA without a photo as well! If I were you I would not really worry too much about the specific photo if you do indeed send one. A red cup always looks sketchy, and red cup or no red cup I doubt Georgetown is going to be any more inclined to accept someone just because the photo they send in is Georgetown related.
