My school's making the seniors hand in transcript request forms about two weeks (with some schools, a month) before the apps are due. I heard that one HAS to submit the App before the transcripts are sent out. So... what about the supps? I heard it's not mandatory to submit the supps at the same time one submits the App. So, here's my question:

Until how long after you submit your CommonApp can you submit your supp and be okay?
(Heard it's around a week, but I just wanted to make sure)

I greatly appreciate all your help!
Thanks in advance, CC! ;)

As long as it is still before the application deadline for that college, you can submit your application and supplement any time. There is no rule in place for how quickly you have to submit your supplement after submitting the Common App.

You do not have to submit the Common App Online before your counselor sends your transcripts or other forms. You can submit your Common App Online and supplements at any time relative to the school forms.

Oh, so, my guidance counselors’ saying that the colleges will discard the transcripts because there is no file of you is FALSE? That makes me feel so much better.

Colleges can definitely handle mail received on behalf of an applicant that comes before the application. They will put the transcript into a file of unmatched documents and go through that file periodically to match those documents to applications that have recently been submitted.

I would recommend that you keep on top of your ‘missing items’ lists, paticularly for those colleges to which your school mailed information. You may see that your transcript is missing for a period of time even though it has been mailed to the college. You may want to contact the college if your transcript still shows as missing for more than a week and let them know it was mailed so that they can see if they have it in their ‘unmatched’ file.

So I have a few schools up there that I might delete from my application, but my councelor already “submitted” the school form. So does this mean they got my transcript already? will this affect me negatively in any way ?
