Submitting FAFSA after the deadline??

I'm applying as a transfer and my Fafsa stuff is due to the colleges on March 1st. My dad owns his own business and needed to wait on others to give him some papers he needed to get his taxes done (I don't know..?) anyway, he got them but the tax accountant was away, and now the tax guy is back, but my dad is away on vacation and won't be back until the 28th.

Basically, I rely heavily on financial aid. EFC is 0. I basically will choose my school on the money I get because I can't afford much more. Anywayyyy... what do I do? I've been bugging my dad for a month and a half. He can't really give estimates so neither can I...? Should I call the schools? I'm hoping to have it in by maybe the March 5th.

The tax accountant said he worked in financial aid for a very long time and it being late isn't a problem. Not sure if I believe that... what do I do???

If you haven't submitted your FAFSA how do you know you have an EFC of zero?? Is this based on last year's FAFSA, or based on running your numbers through the estimator.

I have heard some people comment that financial aid deadlines are "soft deadlines", but I personally would not take the chance. I would use last years tax info as estimates, and make corrections later. Even if the numbers are off, you will have met the deadline and you can enter the correct numbers a few days later.

Just be sure to ask your father what his assetts are on the date you submit your FAFSA as this is the one section that must be correct.

File your FAFSA by the deadline with ESTIMATED numbers. If your parents have no idea, then the 2007 numbers are your best ESTIMATE.

Revise the FASFA when actual numbers are known.

My efc was 0 for the past couple of years, and our financial situation hasn’t improved. I will use the estimated numbers, but some schools wanted signed tax forms (copies) so I guess I will have to be late on that…

Meet the deadline, no matter what.

They know those forms come later. They are not “late” unless you file for an extension, and another extension, …
