My guidance counselor is out of office the next week and I’m unable to contact her, but I have already applied to most of my schools and I need to send in my SAT scores. I took it twice, got a 1340 without essay and a 1270 with the essay. Most of my schools allow superscore, which would be 1360 with 680 in both sections. I just found out, though, that if I send in my 1270 with my higher english score, I also have to send my essay, which was very low (14/24). None of my schools require/recommend the essay, but I’m still hesitant of sending in both tests for superscore because they will still see it. Does anyone have any advice on this? Thanks.
Send both and do not worry about it. Unless the college requires or recommends the essay score, or says it is “optional” or otherwise specifically says it will consider the essay score if provided, it means the college does not use the essay score. Moreover, those that recommend, or say they are optional or are considered, generally do not use the essay score against you, you just lose any little extra benefit that might exist if they are high. Finally, a 14 is not really that low (it is actually an average score for the essay).
The SAT essay is less and less relevant every year. Most schools don’t even consider it, so you should be fine.
Agree, you should be good.
