Submitting School Forms- HELP !

Hello amigos,

I know that an American student must only worry about actually submitting the Common Application and the Supplement to the Common Application each college requires. However, I'm living in Honduras and I have to send all the school forms to each college.

How should I do this?

Should I send in a SINGLE PACKAGE the school forms- school report, final report, teacher recommendations, international supplement- to the college's address?
Should the teacher recommendations be inside their own envelopes, sealed by my high school? The other materials, the final, school, and international supp. reports, how should I send them, I mean, do I have to staple them, put them in an envelope, in a folder, etc ?

Colleges have two different addresses, one for regular mail and the other for express mail. I am sending the packages through private mail companies, since the Honduras government postal service is fairly unreliable, I should send my materials to the EXPRESS MAIL address then? And everything goes to the Admissions Office (I'm sending the Financial Aid papers later), is it enough if I ONLY write the address on the package? I mean, do I have to write the college's address in the teacher rec's envelopes, for example?

I'm sorry for all this questions, but you must understand I have no one to help me with this questions in Honduras. My school counselor does not know much about these issues and applying to the U.S is not the regular thing to do for a Honduran student. So, please help me !

I'm guessing I should send everything in a single package, each form and recommendation in a sealed envelope. The package must be directed to the express mail address and the package alone should have the college's address. Am I right ?

THANKS !

I forgot to ask,... if I send my financial aid information in the same package, I'm guessing it should be in an envelope inside the package, with the address of the Financial Department of the college ?

Thanks !

Yeah, so am I. I need help on this too; it's very unexperienced thing in my school too. In my country, we don't use GPA system, and i don't know what should i write on Mid_year report? Where do my counselor have to seal? Please help us on this guys...

Hey there, let me offer what I know.

If you're using private mail, DO NOT USE THE P.O. BOX ADDRESS, use the physical one.

Everything can go in one package however :
1) Recco.s must be in an envelope, the recc.er must sign across the flap and seal it with tape so they know it has not been tampered with. Any recco. forms should be in this envelope.
2) What is done here in India, for transcripts and counselor recco.s, they're put in their own large envelope in the package, in it is the transcript and the counselor recco. and the counselor, signs the flap, puts her stamp, seals it and puts it in the package with the rest of the things.
3) Its enough if you only write the address on the package, but it always is better to put a sticker of the univ. address, and your details (name, address, DOB, which type of applicant) as well on everything, to ensure it does not get misplaced.
4) Anything that I filled in I did not put in an envelope. My resume was attested by my counselor and so was my CV, but didn't put it in an envelope, there was not much of a need. Keep all documents separate unless for eg. the international supplement has two pages to it.

I hope I answered all your questions. This is the procedure followed at my school in India, it might be different there, and if you doubt anything of what I have said, wait for a second opinion because I'm not expert.

More information as this post <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/5024747-post8.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/5024747-post8.html</a></p>

Do we need to prepare both CV's and resumes?

thanks azharc !

I think I understand.

In a single package, addressed to the physical address of the college, send the final report, school report, international supplement to the school report, and counselor recommendation in a large envelope, signed and sealed by the school counselor.
In separate envelopes send the teacher recommendations, signed and sealed by them.
If you're applying for financial aid, send the information required in an envelope, inside the package, addressed to the Financial Aid Office.

Am I right ?

Right =) so to recap,

The Counsellor's : Transcript + Her Recco. + Anything else such as board exam or AP results or SAT scores attested by her or TOEFL attested by her etc. + International Supplement, as your councilor needs to sign it.

Everything (if any - probably proof of funds and resume) else can go outside this envelope. Teacher rec.s are in seperate envelopes anyway.

das222 resume and CV are the same thing actually.... however I sent them as two different things because my CV contained my extracurriculars and activities, while I kept my resume separate to have my awards and recognition (I'm applying for art, so the resume goes with the portfolio). But its not necessary, having just one document is perfectly fine.
This should go in its own large envelope within your package.

If there's anything else let me know. Again, this is the procedure we follow here, and it makes everything very neat and organized (and official) for the Univ to handle. Some people even write 'Cover letters' here describing whats in the package and any other details. If there is something done differently there (check with your councilor) you should do that.

thanks again azharc !

Just what do you mean by "resume" ?
Aren't your EC's, awards, and such, included in the Common App? Unless you're sending something about arts, or literature, or sports or something like that, you don't have to send any resume right ?

Another thing, should documents be stapled?

Should I tell my teachers to staple the rec's?
Or should my school counselor staple the school forms ?

Documents should never be stapled.

also where does your application for fee waiver go? does it go with the package or with the financial aid information?

It should be at the front of all your documents inside your large package. Counselors are supposed to write and sign it right? Or the NACAC form, is it applicable?

since we're internationals its better that its^ on the school letterhead.
Also do i send my parents tax return ith the application for fee waiver?

Each package should have 4 envelopes:

-One teacher rec
-One teacher rec
-All school forms, including transcripts
-Financial Aid info, addresses to the Fin Aid Office.

I hope that's right ...

What financial aid information are you guys sending?
I'm sending the salary thing signed by my dad's employer, and my savings account statement. what else could I send?

Just check with the websites of colleges you are interested in ..they say what they want

Another thing from my post at a diff place

"This might sound silly, but are you people giving your two teachers two copies of the same common application "Teacher Evaluation 1" form?

I am confused because after downloading the complete commonapp, I see there is only one recommendation form with Teacher Evaluation 1 written at the bottom. I can't change the 1 to 2.

So should I print out two copies of that same form for my both teachers?"

I found no response. what do you think?

I found this from Williams college's site

A signed statement from your parent's employer(s) documenting their total income and benefits for calendar year 2007 (January 1, 2007 - December 31, 2007). This should be on the company's letterhead, translated to English, and in the currency in which they were paid.

Does it mean i can't submit my supplements and financial aid form one time?

Das222: I understand the teacher recommendation forms are exactly the same.
So each teacher must get the same copy.

CradleofFilth: I don't understand where you get that conclusion from... maybe you forgot to copy some part of the information? I'm sending the financial information inside the same package with all my application envelopes.

Can someone confirm my previous statement, about the 4 envelopes ?

"Each package should have 4 envelopes:

-One teacher rec
-One teacher rec
-All school forms, including transcripts
-Financial Aid info, addresses to the Fin Aid Office."

I think you must see this

documenting their total income and benefits for calendar year 2007 B**

By the way, when I post for informations whom should I address it to: "Office of Undergraduate Admissions", "Dean of Admissions" or " The University"?

danielcarp17: Yes, if you are applying online
