Submitting Scores

A lot of colleges request either the SAT Reasoning Test and two SAT Subject Tests OR the ACT. However they go on to say that they require that applicants submit all testing results from each administration of the ACT, SAT, and SAT Subject Tests. This has confused me.

Example: Bob has taken the SAT once, two subject tests, and the ACT 3 times.

Case A: Bob submits all 3 ACT scores
Since it says that they require that applicants submit all testing results from each administration of the ACT, SAT, and SAT Subject Tests, should Bob submit the SAT scores as well? Even though it also says they want SAT and two subject tests OR the ACT?

Case B: Bob submits all ACT scores and the two subject tests.
On Collegeboard.com, the scoring report says that this college wants all of the scores, but since you already submitted the ACT scores, you just wnat to send in the subject tests. However, the college you send these to will be notified that you held some scores back. You only held them back because you were choosing to submit ACT scores. What happens in this case? Do you get auto rejected because it says you withheld some scores?

If they require it, you are usually supposed to send all. The qualification of “OR” is for kids who have yet to take a test. Therefore they see the college will take either, so they only go and take one of the tests. The kid who took them both should send them both.

However, some colleges are more lenient. To get a straight answer, I suggest calling the exact college’s admissions office and finding out. (Emailing doesn’t always work because they give vague answers, usually quoted directly from the website. But calling is more direct.)

Thanks,

however if you only send one thinking that you only needed to send one type, are those justifiable grounds to rescind acceptance?

No, but they might be kinda mad. I’d call them. Good luck!
