Substance Living at Fisher + High Rises

yeah I think the substance free section is completely isolated… only nine percent of the population. I really hope the mice thing isn’t true. Is anyone going to Spring Fling? or know how it works? Don’t you need to be a student to get tickets? If we go to previews on the 17th, do we automatically go to Spring Fling? or would other day events prevent us from going to Spring Fling?

The FreshEx program in Harrison is a good option for freshmen looking for apartment-style living. The program gets a lot of money to spend on the students in it. For instance, during the fall semester they took everyone in the program out for Restaurant Week, paying for food and transportation (Restaurant Week is where these high-end restaurants in Centre City offer full meals for only $35) There’s also other programming designed to help you adjust to college life, as well as meet other freshmen in the program.

i looooove food. i think you’ve just convinced me to put harrison/freshex as my first choice…
i’ll sleep on it and do more research.
but yeah… free GOOD food?

the quad would be a really nice experience to have. more exposure to news of parties, more frosh, etc…

apatel_55 – you do need to be a student to get tickets. a current student can buy tickets for you if you know them, but the previews won’t gain you admission to fling.

idn…the high rises i heard from a previous freshmen are a bit anti-social for freshmen…the RAs had to buy door stoppers to try to get ppl to not close their doors automatically…but i guess if you are really really social, u’ll be fine anywhere
ppl can do quad with engineering…it’s not that far…lol talking about isolated, nursing is pretty isolated…but i am leaning towards the house most far from nursing…kings court cuz i like the rooms lol

All you freshman will regret not choosing the quad. It is the ultimate residential experience. Everything happens there and most of the people you meet in classes will live there.

If I want a quad house, am I guaranteed one (at least freshman year?)? Or is there a chance it will become full?

A lot of people put the Quad for their first three choices and end up with their fourth choice. I’d definitely say the Quad and Hill are definitely the best for freshmen. I ended up in Hill and I would do it again if I had the choice, or maybe the quad instead.

Living in the high rises is a bit of a gamble I guess. I’m in the FreshEx program now, and my floor is pretty tight-knot; people are constantly going in and out of each other’s apartments, we’ve had a couple of suprise birthday parties as a floor, etc. The other floor does a lot of baking and group activities too. I guess at the beginning of the year they did a good job of having several activities for everyone to get to know each other (e.g. scavenger hunts in Center City, group meals, trips to other parts of Philly) and my RA has floor events on a regular basis to bring us together again (more free food! ;))

On the other hand, apparently last year’s FreshEx kids were pretty anti-social.

Rodin is dead, but they don’t accept freshmen anymore so that’s not an issue.

sorry to intrude the post. what’s the admission rate of the Residential Programs?

hm, i’m not sure if anyone knows that aside from like house deans

so basically what I learned today is that quad + hill for frosh, high rises for upperclassmen, gregory + harnwell for internationals, kings is for specific residential programs like huntsman…

so what is stouffer for?

are all the residential programs ppl at fisher grouped together in their respective programs for the dorms? say for example i pick health and society, does that mean the ppl i live near at fisher will all be health and society ppl? Or will it be a mix of ppl in different residential programs who live in fisher?
