substitute for ap phys B textbook?

I'm taking AP physics B this year but both my teacher and the textbook (College physics serway vuille faughn 8th ed.) sucks.. Does anyone have suggestions for a substitute that I can use to actually learn the material, not just for review? thanks :]

I am using the Giannci or something.

But I am sticking to the PR because my teacher sucks too…

Is that a textbook? I have PR too, but I was wondering if there’s something out there that would help me actually learn physics, besides the bad textbook I have. I don’t think it does a good job of explaining things, and we’re not even that far into the subject yet. :[
Can any self-studiers comment about what they are using or have used to learn the material?

Get a tutor.

Don’t use a review book to learn the material because there’s a lack of practice problems. And sure, you could look online, but even then, it’s hard to find a good amount of practice problems with answers. My class is using Cutnell/Johnson 6th Edition, and it’s a solid book. The material is very easily understood by reading the book and looking at the diagrams, and there are over 100 practice problems for each chapter at all levels of difficulty.

I think you mean Giancoli. I’m using the same book. ALong with the 2010 PR book.

Resnick ,Haliday is a good book that explains physics concepts very clearly. There official website is [Halliday, Resnick, Walker: Fundamentals of Physics, 6th Edition - Student Companion Site](<a href=“Companion Site”>Halliday, Resnick, Walker: Fundamentals of Physics, 6th Edition - Student Companion Site)

Halliday/Resnick is indeed a great book, but it’s calculus based. OP is looking for a Physics B book. My HS also used Giancoli, which was okay. I’d also recommend Barrons AP Phys B as a companion.

last year, i self studied physics b online, and princeton review’s ap physics b saved my ass (got a 5)

giancoli is a really good textbook

Nope, I mean Cutnell/Johnson. Unless the authors’ names on the front cover are nothing but vicious lies. :P
