So many are coping with the shock that they didnt get into Ivy leagues though they think they deserved it. So lets show them that there's life beyond the Ivies!

I'll start.

Thankfully, there are threads like these to give them some perspective and urge them to stop sulking. Ha ha, I should know, I sulked for two weeks before picking up some good books, looking around me and realizing that - oh my! - the world doesn't end with a few letters of rejection.

Tom Brokaw: dropped out of The University of Iowa, where he says he majored in "beer and co-eds" before receiving his B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion

Harry, you have a featured thread :D

By far most writers did not go to a prestigious school; by far most GREAT writers did not go to a prestigious school. Many did not even go to college (Hemingway, for example).

Fitzgerald went to Princeton, but what do you expect? Steinbeck went to Stanford but kept dropping out. Other than them, I can't really think of others. Some of the post-moderns went to ivies I think (Vonnegut).

But darnit, my point still rests.
