Hello,

I'm looking for some suggestions for a friend of mine regarding colleges which would suit him. He's a non-traditional student, and is finishing his transfer degree at a community college this quarter. He'll have 60 semester/90 quarter hours that should transfer.

Stats:
Age: 22
College GPA: 3.2
High School GPA: 1.3
SATs: 1160/1600

He's going to be retaking some classes he got low grades in next term, which should bring his GPA up over 3.5.

A note: The reason for his somewhat lowish college GPA (he's capable of being near 4.0) is due to previously undiagnosed neural disorder. He now has medication for it, and is doing much better.

What's he looking for:
Type: A LAC is much preferred.
Geographic Area: Pacific Northwest is preferred. No south/midwest bordering on south. Ohio or Iowa would be ok.
Additional Preferences: Small class size, discussion focused. He also prefers "weird" things...to give you some idea, he loves the idea of going to Reed or Hampshire. He loves quirky students. He prefers the focus be more on learning, and feedback, and less on GPA and testing.
Academic Interests: He isn't entirely sure. He's a musician (interested in music theory, electronic music, plays the tuba), and would be interested in being involved with that. His other interests include anthropology, and studying psychoactive substance use amongst different cultures. Chemistry is another interest. And ethnomusicology (whatever that is).

Financial situation: He'll have an EFC of 0, but he is getting married soon, so should be considered independent for this upcoming Fall term. So schools generous with financial aid would be a plus.

So far, I've suggested Hampshire and Whitman, and possibly Oberlin. I don't think he could get in to Reed with his current stats, but he would like to go there. Any other suggestions?

Any ideas are much appreciated!
