Suggest a college please....

The SAT II results are out -
Literature - 770
Maths IIC - 750

Congratulations on your great scores!

Thanks, happymomof1 :D

Are there any other colleges known for giving generous financial aid to international students? I’d appreciate any suggestions that you guys have.

Connecticut College (CT) has 12% international students.
Check their website and see what their FA policy is for internationals.

Thanks, SLUMOM, Connecticut College does seem like a good choice.

What would you guys say about Colby College, Bates College, and/or Williams College? According to a OACAC survey, their financial aid plans for international students are very good.

You could also look at Hobart & William Smith (NY)

[HWS: International Students](http://hws.edu/admissions/international_student.aspx)

HWS Colleges’ financial aid program for international students is good, but it does not meet my needs. International freshmen students are provided aid for a maximum of eight semesters. Thanks for the suggestion, though, and please correct me if I am wrong.

Many schools have this policy, and not only for internationals.

Why would you need fin aid for more than four years?

Sorry, I confused it with something else. I should have thought of that; it makes more sense now.
When the college refers to merit aid, need-based grants and full tuition scholarship, does it mean that only the tuition is covered or are room and board costs also included?

Financial aid is usually calculated to cover the full cost of attendance, which does include room and board, travel expenses and even some extra money for books and clothes, depending on the college.

Thanks for clearing that up :)

travel expenses

Actually, many schools do NOT include international travel costs in their COAs.

Here’s what Conn College COA is…

Out-of-state tuition and fees: … $43,990
Room and board: … $10,980
Books and supplies: … $1,000
Estimated personal expenses: … $400
Transportation expense: … $400

So, int’l travel costs are not in the COA…and with only $400 for “personal expenses”, that’s not covering much either. That’s about $10 per week. :(

Maybe, I don’t know; all the schools that accepted me did. Though some of them kinda underestimated my travel expenses.

I know for a fact that Reed calculates each student’s cost of attendance separately, precisely to account for travel expenses. My COA, for example, is over $1,500 higher than that of some domestic students.

Thanks for all the suggestions
$10 a week does sound quite lacking. Once the decision is made by the college, do these values remain fixed or can they change in the future?
As an aside, based on my SAT I and II scores, do you think I can get selected by schools like Williams, Vassar, Macalester and Colby? I know that my admission depends on many other factors too, but I’m starting to wonder if I should look for less selective colleges and/or focus on local colleges more than I already am.

I’ll be optimistic and take that as a ‘maybe’.
