I just won’t mention that I am applying to the other… I doubt they would ask.

italian border, the class of 2007 SAT scores were 634 Verbal and 655 Math, which is somewhat lower than schools like Andover, Exeter, SPS, and Deerfield. It’s still a pretty good school, though. SAT scores aren’t everything and its matriculation is still impressive.

A few schools I applied to asked what other schools I’m applied to on the application, as well as the interview. They will know if you’re lying when they see the SSAT results and FA forms.

But it’s not the teacher’s who care-I know some kids that were accepted to both. Just don’t let the students know ;)

Confidence is good, admissions officers like that. But SERIOUSLY, don’t do the paper. It makes you seem like a schmoozer. “Oh, bask in the glory of my groovy-ness, while reading my 5 page paper.” Also, consider their busy schedules.Do they really have time for that?

About the group therapy thing… i don’t think it’s a bad idea, but you might want to wait until your accepted before you do all that. it might come across like, i dunno arrogant, or “Holier than thou”. Just a thought. You don’t want to tick off the admissions officers.

Also.. I may be acting a bit oversensitive, but no more black comments, please. I’m half-black, half Cuban, and I hate it when people assume that I MUST be into rap, and reggaeton. Actually, I like punk rock, and the Beatles. No worries, I’m not really offended, it’s just something to think about. Don’t assume your the only non-preppy boarding student either. That is a little arrogant.

cheers, Dazz

Sorry about that, I was just trying to give some insite on my perspective. It can come off as bad…

I actually called an admissions office and they said they spend alot of time on each application and basically arn’t very busy before applications.

I AM NOT GOING TO BE A POMPOUS ASS IN MY PAPER. I am going to stress what my school doesn’t offer, what my interests are, what the school offers and what I can contribute.

M’kay, as long as you pull it off the right way, the paper seems trippy. I still don’t think it’s the best idea though.

What else can I do to make my application jump off of the page? I know I can do a great interview(My strongest point) and a pretty good essay… But I can write very passionately. So much is on the wire for me and I think I can pull through and really dazzle them(No pun on your name) to make them think harder about mine. See that I want it this much…
“The brick walls of entry are there so I can prove how much I want it. They are to keep the other people out.”- paraphrased from raundy pausch

Writing is my strong suit too, but I’m a novelist, not a passion-filled speech writer like yourself. I sent a bit of an old manuscript to Asheville School (the school I’m going to attend in…2 days) And the lady wrote back and wanted the whole book. So i sent it to her, and she loved it. I think that was my tipping point. Since then Ive been in really close contact with her, and the chair of the English department but i digress. If I has sent them the whole novel, at first, I dont think it would have the same effect.. Anyways, I say all that to make a very simple point.
Make the paper shorter.
I just worry about how BIG it’s going to be. Too much pasion can be “scary” a bit of a turn off. Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was only a few lines long. And personally i get more out of shorter pieces than longer ones.

“Too much of a good thing” quoted from old people.

Oh, and submit it with your application too, easier for the filing people. You don’t want it too get lost.

Sounds like you are going in as a junior? Few spots at most. Check out well.

Interests: I don’t believe all the schools you mentioned have model UN. Mercersburg does and they are big in debate.

You look like you place interest in your Christian background. Make sure the schools you look at are compatable. One school we looked at, the guide said “oh, you are one of those”.

I am. Christian faith is very strong… But I really push on the “group support”. That started with jesus camp and now I can just talk about without mentioning god.

Should I mention it or should I simply state that I am a christian and leave it at that and make it completely seperate from the group support(I would like to talk about how faith inspired me to do it).

Andover students do not attend church in significant numbers. That is somewhat surprising with 1200 students . last year the daughter of the christian minister was a student. She attended with a group of girls making up the largest group.

i just dont want it to hurt my chances… it is not bible study it is group support

Don’t hide your faith. Just realize that some schools (St Paul, Mercersburg, ? Deerfield) have chapels on campus and are very attuned to religion (Christian, Moslem, Jewish, etc). We did not look at schools that were not as it was important to my daughter.

i think that you would do well at Saint Marks school, look it up, It could be a good fit for you.

Italian Boarder drop the act…lol

Aussie…
I am christian even though I make bad choices. It still counts(That is what faith is about).

You seem to be very interested in athletics, particularly on lacrosse and football which are top notch at Deerfield. Moreover, DA has great econ classes. Personally I have not taken an econ class but I know lots of people who did and they said it was one of the more challenging but excellent classes around. I think Deerfield is a good choice so definitely consider a visit and ask the admissions people lots of questions.

Athletics are just a plus… I really am looking for a top-notch academic and social experience first. I think that healthy sports has alot to do with a healthy social and academic community.

What position do you play? If you are a left handed or ambidextrous attack look elsewhere :)
