I enjoy reading, long walks on the beach (or actually in the mountains), writing, math, talking to people, suits, money, and thinking about having a family in the future.

I'm 2 years through a mech. e. degree and am wondering about my decision to start this program. I've been reading business books lately and I stress everytime I read the words 'middle management', and worry extensively about getting screwed into a job and never being able to work out of it.

Also, I met an architect the other week that thoroughly enjoyed his job. He was allowed to be creative and smart, all the while talking to people. Architecture is out of the question (I can't sketch worth a damn.... or do anything artsy other than write well). Not to mention finding an architecture job is nearly harder than getting the degree itself.

Is there a job that is out there for an extroverted technical type who enjoys creativity and shudders at the thought of working until his future child hates him.

P.S. I've thought of banking but the long hours are frightening (as in, 90 hours or so a week). Do boutique firms outside of NYC demand less of investors? I've thought of getting an econ or math minor but that would be an extra year of work.
