Suggestions for PORTABLE VACUUM for DORM?

Actually some of the dorm rooms DO have floors (which the kids put rugs on). DS is, however, moving off campus...he will take his little vacuum, and his new Swiffer. He used the vac a LOT in the dorm. It helped keep the dust situation under control.

I got my son a corded hand vac, as it was impractical to have a battery vac plugged in all of the time. But then I discovered that his dorm has vacuums available to borrow. For as seldom as he would vacuum, borrowing one is the best idea!

Thumper I meant Amazon not ebay...I was going to order one with free shipping and smack a bow on it..but decided since she is ms. picky..to let her pick out her own!

My son has this one, a Shark- it was mine and I miss it. It may be the one others have mentioned. It has a hose for above floor messes (to use like a dustbuster) and does floors.

I am Cangel's D and the dirt devil does a bang up job. But you look really silly crawling around on the floor trying to vacuum. Much better if you just want to clean up crumbs... or whatever may find itself on the floor. ;-)

My recommendation would be to get a broom and a rug with a flat texture. Dorms are one step up from a third world country. Best not to bring extra appliances.

Actually my son does not like lots of "junk" underfoot...and he used his Boss vacuum. He lived on the 7th floor of his dorm and the vacuums were on the first floor. He said without his own he NEVER would have vacuumed. He liked having his own...his has a little handle that telescopes out so he is not on his hands and knees with a hand held. Also, his is NOT battery operated...it has a cord. Works just fine and was less expensive.
