Suggestions needed. Opinions appreciated!

I am international student who has been studying in Toronto over a year now, and I am in the process of university applications. I’m planning to major in psychology (BA), and do have a decent average. (96) As much as I’d like to get into a internationally prestigious school, I’d like to take other factors into account as well, hence opinions are greatly appreciated. What would be my chances to get admitted to McGill, Queen’s, Guelph, or York and which one would you suggest considering the major I stated above? Thanks in advance.

The prestige of the universities in Canada is the same as the order you’ve listed the schools. Your chances should be very good, but it depends on whether your school is known for grade inflation or not.

Thank you for your comment, does which school I study have a crucial impact on admission? As a foreigner, I am not sure what my school is known for honestly

Do you think you’re in the top 5-10% of the students at your school?

There are a few other students that hold above 95, so I would not be able to say that the marks are given easily, in fact, based on my experience, they are very proud of their low markings.

Apply to Mc Gill, UBC, McMaster, Queen’s perhaps, Waterloo (not great town but great co-ops), Dalhousie.
I’d avoid Guelph, it’s not that nice of a town.

If you are at a standard public high school, you should be fine. If you are at a private school which caters to internationals, it’s hard to make a prediction. You should be in at York and Guelph in any case. I would not recommend Waterloo for psychology.

I’d disagree about Guelph. What, specifically, do you find “not nice” about it? It is actually a small, safe city very near the GTA.
