I think that the problem is that it would be too easy to suggest a couple of hundred universities and colleges that would approximately fit your stats and interests. Therefore you need to give more information to allow folks to suggest specific schools.
What state do you live in? What can your afford and have you sat down with your parents and talked about finances for university? Do you prefer big schools or small schools? In big cities or smaller towns? Are you taking a gap year and if so what are you doing? What is your unweighted GPA (different schools weight so differently that it is hard to know how to interpret unweighted GPA)? Have you at least visited your local in-state public university and if so what did you think of it? Have you visited any universities?
Well PA was implied by saying i live by Pittsburgh. I said I needed lots of financial aid so that means I need financial aid! My parents are not contributing to my college. I literally said what I was doing this year for 10 months in china. My UW gpa is 3.7 ish. I havent visited any universities because im open to all kinds of schools and will think abouy applying to schools of all sizes. @DadTwoGirls
Okay I have more experience on this site than my friend so I’m gonna help him out a little:
He does not really know what type of school he wants in regards to things that come down to “fit”, and he is about to leave for China for a year so he can’t visit colleges. I know, I know, he needs get a feel for them, but it’s too late. He comes from a low-income household but there are some issues with his dad, so he’s looking for schools that would offer him a lot of need-based aid as well as ones where he could be a good candidate for merit aid. He can also retake his ACT if it would help, but he would be retaking it in China while participating in a Chinese-immersion program so it is not ideal. If you have any recommendations as to some schools that would be a good fit for him academically and financially, please suggest them as well as a little bit about the “feel” of the campus! It is very much appreciated! A good study abroad program is a must and I think OP would like a school with good sustainability efforts
