Summer abroad vs. paid internship abroad-which looks better on college apps?

We are planning ahead for my D future summer, and we have the option of applying to a summer abroad language learning program (YFU, NSLI-Y, etc.) vs. trying to get a paid internship at a company in China/Japan. Assuming both options are available, and also assuming that my D is interested equally in both options must must choose one of them, which one will be more appealing to college admission officers?

I know these are not easy to obtain options, especially the paid internship, but lets assume it is possible. Thanks

both are fantastic. if she had to choose one, I think that the paid internship would show a lot of responsibility

You’re putting the cart before the horse. Apply to all of these things and see what she is accepted to. That is when you should be asking these questions.

Since I think both are equally appealing to colleges, I’d go with the paid internship. Not only will colleges be impressed, but the experience in itself will make you progress.
