Are there any competitions I can enter that will give be recognition (what good colleges really want)? I am into Fine Art and Chemistry. Also, what is the best way to spend the summer in order to impress Ivies? I usually volunteer for this program that helps raise $ to vaccinate children in Africa, and I volunteer at a Medical facility. I plan on taking SAT courses. Any suggestions on what I should do over summer w/o spending a surplus amt of $?
Thank You

For chemistry, there is the US National Chemistry Olympiad, which is very prestigious, and admit officers at top schools do and will recognize this competition especially if you win an award in it. But keep in mind that getting awards in competitions alone will not get you into a top school.

Good luck!

ARt related contest awards that mean a lot-

Gold Key or higher on the Scholastics
(any Art or writing category)

NFAA (any of the categories though it is kind of late for admissions?)

Do not spend summers to impress anyone; it is your life, you will see
70-80 summers before you die; make the most of it!

^NFAA’s deadline is in October, so it is actually early for applying!
