i have absolutely NOTHING to do!! A few of my friends are going to CTY, and others are going to China..but mee all I have is a 2-week family vacation to Disney World. I really want to be productive this summer because I know that High School is gonna be INTENSE and definitely important in every way, and I want to be prepared for it. What should I do for this summer??

University of Rochester’s Summer Pre-College Programs offer 1-3 week residential programs for rising 9-12 graders and is still accepting applications through June 4th.

I usually start studying for the next school year during my breaks.

Will you be taking any language courses throughout high school? I tend to find French difficult. I would have started studying for French the summer before 9th grade year if I had time for it.

So…if you are, I suggest you buy a French or Spanish book and get to working! Good Luck! :]

Find out if there is a summer reading list for your English class and read! If there is no required reading, just go to the library and read some great books that you won’t have time to read during the school year. Also, find some volunteer work. There are many service-related scholarships and no matter where you live, some organization will appreciate your help. Finally, if you plan to participate in a sport in high school, find out if the team starts conditioning in the summer. My kids’ school did not communicate well with the incoming freshman so they were already behind when school started.
