So I've done probably about 150 hours of community service between volunteering at the library and random projects with various other clubs that I'm in such as CSF. Not too impressive but I've got a bunch of other ECs plus an all AP schedule that eat up all my time in the school year. Anyways, I found an opportunity in my area to volunteer with a preschool therapeutic counseling program for children who have been abused, teaching them nonviolent forms of expression and dealing with their trauma in various ways, for 3 hours a week during the summer. Counseling is one of the career paths I'm looking into and I love kids so I'm really excited about doing this but I was wondering if since I'm only starting with it the summer before my senior year if colleges will frown upon it and think less of the work I do.
So do you think that my timing will make this look bad even though I legitimately want to participate and help these kids while exploring a possible career interest?

No of course not (: Any volunteer work is better than no volunteer work. If you write about it when they ask you to elaborate on an extracurricular activity and you seem genuinely passionate, it’ll look good. And volunteer work would come in handy late in the year for any local scholarships you apply to also.

Ok, I hope you’re right! Thanks!
